The Confucius Institute is organising its monthly Chinese Cinema Cycle in partnership with the Cercle Cité. This is a unique opportunity to discover Chinese films and documentaries (with English and/or French subtitles). The Confucius Institute worked with the Allers-Retours Association to select the films. Come along on Monday 15 May 2023 from 17:30 (start at 18:00) for the screening of the film “Art is Dead” (English subtitles).

After shooting ‘SHe’, ‘I’ fell into the bottleneck of creation. While interviewing some artists about how to break through the bottleneck period, I stumbled upon an artist’s body with a strange posture in his studio. Driven by curiosity and creative desire, ‘I’ began to investigate this dead artist with a camera. What happened next became more and more strange and uncontrollable…

“J’ai rencontré quelques artistes pour essayer de surmonter la crise artistique que je vivais, lorsque je suis tombé par hasard sur le corps de l’un d’eux, mort dans une étrange posture dans son studio. Guidé par la curiosité et mon désir créatif, j’ai commencé à enquêter avec ma caméra sur cet artiste mort. La suite des événements devenait de plus en plus étrange et incontrôlable…”
