Traditional Chinese music concert: Colours of China

On Sunday 14 June 2020 at 15:00, the Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg is pleased to invite you to a Facebook online concert: Colours of China.

As the academic year draws to a close, some of the team members at the Music Confucius Institute will soon be leaving Europe. Before they set off, the musicians, who have trained at China’s leading music academies, are inviting us to a final concert in which they will share their passion for traditional Chinese music.

In May 2020, in lockdown in Copenhagen, they put on a first online concert from their homes. For this second concert, live from the Royal Danish Academy of Music, they are able to meet up in person and play together again.

The programme will give you a chance to discover several traditional Chinese instruments: 古筝 guzheng (Chinese zither), 古琴 guqin (seven-string zither), 二胡 erhu (two-string Chinese violin), 中阮 zhongruan (a round lute known as the moon guitar) and 洋琴 yangqin (Chinese dulcimer).

The concert will last approximately one hour and will be followed by a 30-minute session for you to meet the musicians (in English and Chinese).

The pieces will be presented in English during the concert. A French translation will be available.

Free and open to all!
