The 2022 Confucius Institute Director’s Forum, co-sponsored by Chinese International Education Foundation and Beijing Foreign Studies University, was held from 14 to 24 September 2022.

During the forum, CIs directors shared experiences on how to improve their teaching staff, better serve local society, create brand images, and develop based on local conditions.

It attracted nearly 600 Chinese and foreign directors as applicants.

A total of 26 applicants delivered keynote speeches, including Jauffrey Bareille, Luxembourg Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg who gave a presentation on “How can Confucius Institutes improve the quality of teachers?” on 16 September.

To try to address this question, he divided its presentation into three parts, offering specific proposals for each aspect: the development of a teaching framework; the question of training, whether provided in house or externally; and finally the wider approach – how to create a positive and productive working environment.

This forum aimed to strengthen the coordination and cooperation among the Confucius Institutes (CIs) world-wide, consolidate intrinsic capacity building of CIs, and discuss the sustainable and high-quality development pathway for CIs in the future.
